Leave of absence

A leave of absence is a work situation in which an employee temporarily stops providing services to a company while maintaining their employment relationship. During this period, the employee does not receive a salary but retains certain labor rights, such as job reservation and the possibility of returning to the company once the leave of absence is over.

There are different types of leaves of absence:

· Voluntary leave of absence: When an employee, for personal reasons, requests a temporary interruption in their employment relationship with the company. During this period, the employee does not receive a salary but retains the right to return to their job once the leave of absence is over.

· Leave of absence for childcare: Allows workers to temporarily leave their job to care for a child or foster child. This type of leave is regulated by law and usually has a specific duration.

· Leave of absence for family care: Similar to childcare leave, but applies when it is necessary to care for other dependent family members, such as spouses, parents, in-laws, etc.

· Leave of absence for caring for a family member with a serious illness: It is a leave of absence granted to care for a family member who has a serious illness that requires hospital or home care.

· Leave of absence for studies or training: Granted to the worker so that they can continue their academic or professional training. During this period, the worker does not receive a salary but retains the right to return to their job once the leave of absence is over.
