Hans Selye defined stress as an unexpected and unpredictable response of the brain and body to change. Stress is generated mainly when more results are expected at work compared to what an employee is capable of achieving, when the objectives and roles are unclear or poorly defined, or when there is harassment. It also arises when there is a bad environment at work, with the performance of tasks and functions that are performed and with interpersonal relationships inside and outside the organization.

The key to overcoming stressful environments is to develop resilience, both on a personal and organizational level. That is, to overcome and move forward in difficult moments in life, to resist adversity and recover. It is built through attitudes, behaviors and social supports. However, it is also essential to evaluate the Work Environment and detect opportunities for company improvement.
